Depending on the distance you’re trying to communicate across, your two-way radio communications may require a radio repeater. Repeaters provide a central point for all radios in an area to communicate to and amplify radio transmit power to reach other radios that are too far away to reach directly. Instead of radios talking directly to one another, radios transmit to a nearby repeater, which then re-broadcasts the signal to other radios at a much higher power. Because of this increase in power, adding a digital repeater drastically increases the range and reliability of two-way radio communications. Hytera offers several different repeater applications, from single-channel repeater systems to multi-channel trunked systems or even IP-connected repeater configurations that can communicate through established network connections.

Repeaters do require a few ancillary items, like an antenna, RF cabling, and either a duplexer or combiner. Antennas are typically mounted on top of buildings or other high-up places like hilltops or towers. The height of your antenna will help reduce obstacles that could otherwise reduce your transmission range and provide a more direct, line-of-sight route to other area radios. Obstacles blocking your line-of-sight are a big factor in reducing communication range. The bigger or thicker an obstacle, the more it can attenuate your radio signal.

At just 1 rack unit (1U), half that of conventional repeaters, the Hytera HR1062 features a built-in power supply to preserve valuable rack space by eliminating the cost and space required for additional parts. The HR1062 supports AC/DC auto-switching for locations with different power sources or power redundancy. Mixed channel mode detects the receiving signal and automatically switches between analog and digital mode to provide a simple migration path for your organization from one protocol to the other. A variable-speed fan provides optimal cooling with front-to-back internal airflow for 100% duty cycle operation in mission-critical applications. The HR1062 supports a wide variety of analog and digital radio networks, including analog and digital conventional, DMR Tier II, XPT Trunking, and DMR Tier III Trunking. Enhanced Rx sensitivity extends communication range beyond its competition, and an ethernet port provides access to IP networks enabling remote site connectivity. Both ARC4 and optional AES encryption ensure both digital end-to-end and over-the-air encryption.
